Dell Wants To Replace Landmark Clock Tower

New structure would have LED display of time and adverts

The Dell EMC Tower as it is currently

An application has been made on behalf of Dell Technologies Ltd to overhaul the landmark clock tower by the M4 in Brentford.

The Dell EMC Clock Tower, a purpose built advertising structure by the eastbound carriageway. There has been a clock tower at the site since the 1930s and advertising has been displayed on it since 1965. The current one was built in 1989 but now the technology giant is arguing that it appears tired and dated.

They want to replace the existing clock which has a neon illuminated clockface with an LED display and the two neon advertising displays with LED hoarding. In addition the static Dell sign would be replaced by new illuminated branding.

The LED advertising displays would change no more than once every 24 hours according to the planning statement issued by the company.

They have submitted a concurrent application to replace the silver and grey aluminium cladding of the tower.
