Shepherd's Bush Green Post Office move to Westfield

Here we go again. Another proposal that's surely to go ahead.The Post Office is planning to move their main branch to WHSmith Westfield. I know times are tough (not for the elite) and the Post Office has been losing money, but this has got to be the stupidest idea so far. What will the elderly do? The disabled? Mums with prams and pushchairs laden with grocery shopping? I mean, surely a main branch Post Office has to be safe from such a proposal?This has gone to public consultation, but we know that usually means the decision's already been made. I've emailed my strong views on the matter, and I see that Andy Slaughter is again got involved, as he has with Morrisons. Let's hope that some sense will prevail - otherwise, I'm afraid the Shepherd's Bush we know and love will have another nail hammered into its coffin.

Let's hope it has the capacity to cope with what was once a main PO and that the elderly and less mobile are not going to have problems getting to it.Appreciate Westfield is now the hub of Shepherds Bush but it is such a shame the rest of the area is being neglected.  I have not walked to the Green in a while but today I was suprised to see the little building on the Green opposite Barclay's Bank has been demolished.  Could that not have been turned into a kiosk for drinks/ice creams, especially as it is next to the playground area?

Yes, our old PO now resides inside WHSmth's.

Oh dear, that is not good.  As you say bound to be another hotel or flats.  Has the PO now moved into Smith's?

Well, that's it, folks - the closure has happened. The signs have been removed and the old Post Office is no more. A sad day for the community and a victory for nonsense and shareholders.Let's see how speedily the new owners of Threshold House will develop the site into a(nother) hotel, or a block of 'Luxury 1, 2, 3 bedroom apartments'. As if that's what we need more of in Da Bush.

Indeed. Andy Slaughter MP is up in arms about it, and we can all do our bit to fight this hare-brained thinking by airing our views via the various means of contact during this period of 'consultation'(all in the current newsletter).

Oh my goodness, that is a ridiculous proposal.  As you say the location for many will cause enough problems but WH Smith in Westfield surely does not have the capacity to deal with the number of customers that use the post office.
