Post office closing

I'm really gutted that my local PO on Goldhawk road is closing. Does anybody know when it's going to disappear? I need to buy all my stamps now, otherwise I'll have to queue up for hours in the main post office on the green. Not looking forward to that at all.

Post offices seem to be closing down all over the country.  Why is this and why doesn't the government subsidise them as they're such important places and provide so many essential services to communities?
