Music hall

Was there ever a music hall in Shepherds Bush, like the Chiswick Empire in W4?  If so, where was it located?

Don't they still do "Burlesque" in Shepherds Bush? I'm sure it came up in the extensive Libertaire threads on ActonW3.

Thanks Hugh - great stuff this jazz.Like Colin, I used to go to the Chiswick Empire - saw Max"Cheeky Chappie"Miller and Lucan and McShane(old Mother Riley) and many of the old timers - in the late 40s and early 50s - and after the show we'd have a strwberry milk shake and a custard tart in the milk bar three/four doors away in the Chiswick High Road - happy days.  ;-)

If you go on to 'U Tube'Gerry, and look up More Trolleybuses. In the London section you will see a 607 passing the Shepherds Bush Empire with BBC TV Logo on the front. On another clip you will see a 657 passing that spot, and right round The Green with the musical accompanyment of 'Two Way Family Favourites, 'With a song in my Heart'. Tears of Nostalgia all round!On you go everyone, have a good weep for the way we were!!
