Eateries in W12  ?

Where are the good little restaurants and bistros in the Shepherds Bush area?  You know, the small independant eateries where you get good food at reasonable prices, not your expensive snooty joints where you need a second mortgage to treat your spouse/family for the occasional meal.

We've had a good meal at Sufi, Askew Rd.  Adam's Cafe just opposite is an excellent trad caff during the day and a Brilliant Tunisian in the evenings - lovely Tagines!

How are Albertines, the Balzac and the North Pole?All used to be staples of my BBC existence ...along with the Rotisserie on Shepherd's Bush Green which I think is now sadly defunct.

The Patio was rather good when I went there a few years ago, just by The Green.  Good value polish with vodka thrown in.

Cafe Rest on Goldhawk Road......not far from Goldhawk Station! Good old fashioned home cooking at good prices.... not the place to take someone on a date though... granted! :-)

Sufi on Askew Road is a Persian Restaurant. Has anyone eaten there?  They have a great website. Love the music!http://www.sufirestaurant.com/index.phpFait Maison is French traiteur on Goldhawk Road just opposite Allied Carpets near Ravenscourt Park.  You can eat in or buy food to take away. Everything I have had from them was delicious. Wonderful quiches, salads, pastries etc.

My husband just came home raving about dinner at the Gate in Hammersmith - is that near enough? It's a fab vegetarian restaurant that I always thought was good but for one reason or another haven't been to in years. He said it was fantastic - and he's no vegetarian.

Adams Cafe in Askew Road, excellent & reasonable North African food and Som Tam also in Askew Road.....

Aroma is on Uxbridge Road, just by the Green. Opposite Barclays bank, if you know where that is. They mainly do baked potatoes and bagels with all sorts of different fillings. Red Sea is a little further down Uxbridge Road (about a 10-minute walk from the Green). The food is more exotic - Mediterranian/African. Hope that helps!

I can really recommend the Aroma cafe near the green on Uxbridge Rd (used to be the Turkish bakery). It's very reasonably priced and is always open (even on Christmas day)! Otherwise, the Red Sea restaurant does a lunch buffet for a fiver.
