More luxury brands prepare to move into Westfield

Oh no...........what am I going to do.........I only get an hour for lunch, my bank account is nearly empty two weeks after I get paid.....how is a girl supposed to deal with this?Joking aside, this sounds really impressive........I have watched over many years of working in W12 how this site has progressed and cannot believe it is so close to opening, and to top it all the building I currently work in will be closing so we will be moving even closer to the shopping centre.......life can be so cruel.

I visited Westfield yesterday (Friday) for the first time since the manic opening week when you couldn't move for people.  The main "streets" were quite busy, and the available seating, which I was pleased to see had been increased since November, was well used.  Overall it was a pleasant shopping experience for someone like me who is definitely not "shopping mad".  The M&S sale was over, and I couldn't help wondering how much profit they were making out of their rather empty store.  Still, it was better stocked than their store at Kew which until now has been our nearest.If you're catching a bus home and you finish your shopping near the Next store, it's worth going to the nearby White City bus station where you might be the only person to board an empty bus, rather than trudging out with the crowds to the Shepherd's Bush bus stops by the Central Line station.

Any update on the success - or othrewise - of Westfield in these troubled trading times? I didn't try the sales as shopping mad daughter says that Kensington High Street, which has Urban Outfitters and other classy places, is much better and she can't find stuff she likes at Westfield...and I hate sales and would anyhow only go to John Lewisy ones for towels etc.Anyhow we "saved" £273 on our High St. Ken spree. Would we have done as well in W12?

Could turn out to be the proverbial White Elephant Sara, given the current finacial climate. I should keep your bike you will probably need it for a trip to the 'Soup Kitchen'if current forecasts prove to be right.Thats if you can find your way there in the dark.

It's just stuff though isn't it?The thought of Tiffany and Mulberry etc practically on my doorstep - OK a short bike ride away - leaves me cold.What I want is a decent Post Office, chemist, deli and bookshop right near by...and by the end of June we'll only have one of those in my bit of Acton.Not that I'm blaming Shepherd's Bush and its shiny new temple to consumption, just whinging really.

Likewise with Brent Cross........once and never again, similar with Oxford Street, had to go up there one evening last week to get a wedding pressie from John Lewis......ye gods it was awful....quite happy to stick to W12, W6 or indeed Hounslow which I find to be quite a good shopping area (amazing what you think you need/will be useful when in those £1 shops....anybody come out of then having only spent a pound???)I do agree re the downside, I guess the most likely will be the impact on the smaller retailers and the market which will be a great pity.

Shan't be going there myself Carol, too far away with Brent Cross much nearer. Not that I visit there either, went there on day one many moons ago, but never since. There might be a downside to all this in Shepherds Bush, but thats another story.
