Film Locations

Browsing through a bargain book shop recently I came across a book on London film locations. The author was, I think, Mark Barnes.I went to the index to look up local areas and was surprised to see that Shepherd's Bush didn't get a single mention. I thought there were a lot of films that featured the area. Quadrophenia comes to mind but I'm sure there were others.

Yep Blythe Road is correct:0)  Minder's car lot was  just where Blythe Road turned into the 2 way system.

The series is now being rebroadcast on one of the cable/satellite channels and I do enjoy watching it. They seem to have been quite careful when filming external scenes not to make the place identifiable i.e. road signs are never readable but it does often look as though some of the scenes are in the area close to Blythe Road. That said there are so many similar areas across London it could be somewhere else.

ARthur Daly's car lot was on Blythe Road. I could catch a glimpse of my house in the opening credits.

"  Comically, the Westfield cranes were clearly visible although the scene was supposedly set in 1997 "What's wrong with that?  Cranes were invented before 1997.Something like THIS would have looked out of place though !

I'm sure I've see the Bush fairly regularly on TV although it could have been similarly looking places elsewhere in London. It would be surprising if it wasn't used a lot given the proximity of the BBC. The Winchester Club and Arthur Daley's car lot were supposed to be in the area and perhaps most famously Steptoe and Son's rag and bone yard.

I don't know about films but the Green appeared in last week's Beautiful People on BBC2. Comically, the Westfield cranes were clearly visible although the scene was supposedly set in 1997.
