Has the Westfield novelty worn off?

Is it just me or did it seem much less crowded today? The last couple of weekends have been awful but I actually managed to walk around today without have to navigate my way past crowds of people. How was it for you all?

Son and husband went to buy suits today and found huge reductions - just as well - they have very expensive tastes!But more importantly, there's hardly any shopping Saturdays to Xmas and, while not empty, it was far from humming or uncomfortable.

and a skirt and jacket and two tops and some excruciatingly expensive bras from Rigby and whatever.But no hat and no fascinator cos I looked jolly silly in them.Golly it's big - we only did one side. It's nice and airy but ever so easy to get lost in.And the parking is exhorbitant - I know I said I would go by bike but daughter (who was running the expedition) had left her bike at Girton so that was no good. Surely they could do a voucher so you didn't have to pay if you spent a certain amount.But no East and no John Lewis and no cinema yet so I shan't be haunting it.

I would suggest, Sara, if you don't want to get lost in that place, just go to Wood Lane and pop into Debenhams on the corner. They seem to have some quite nice stuff in there. I think you've missed the 3 day sale, though, unless they're planning another one.

Well there's a little clothes shop located in the south west corner of Westfield, in section that they call Hammersmith. Primark. ;o))

So if I go at ten o'clock Monday morning, will I find it pleasingly empty and un-stressing...is there an East? I need a serious outfit - dress and jacket or suit and maybe hat or fascinator or somesuch. I loathe shopping and am a size about 16-18 and over fifty but not much. Where in Westfield deserves my custom and will sort me out without (preferably) bankrupting me?

Personally, I think they've aimed a little too high. Too many shops selling similar items. Fashion, jewellery, lingerie, handbags, sports wear etc.  Not enough selling basic, houshold items, catered for by Currys, B & Q, Ikea, Robert Dyas etc. Essential items to tempt you into Westfield, once the novelty has worn off.I stood in the middle of Westfield, surrounded by shops but it suddenly dawned on me, there was nowhere in sight for me to buy a Mars bar !

The first couple of times I went there it was packed with sightseers, some of whom were even taking photographs of each other on their mobile phones to mark the occasion!The last few times have been great, however, because it was buzzing (particularly the restaurants) without being too crowded.

What I have noticed is, if you are in a wheelchair, have a baby buggy or indeed are mobility impaired, the only way to get into Westfield is either by the Waitrose entrance or by the Next entrance.  The entrance near Debenhams is all stairs.  Which caused problems as one of my colleagues is heavily pregnant and the other has a form of arthritis so when we wanted to go for a birthday lunch at one of the restaurants we had to walk further then was needed.  And then of course they had to go out that way as they had problems getting down all the steps.  Me thinks this is a bit of a design flaw!

I just loathe shopping at all - and especially this time of year. However, have to buy a smart outfit and at least presents for the kids...though, at 19 and 17, stockings it seems to me (though not them) are superfluous.Everyone else gets cows or goats!

Sara, you will find it less crowded if you go there midweek!We have been there on a number of occasions and it is a great place to shop, best of all it is not too far from home, much better than Brent Cross and no need to go to the West End or out of town to find decent shops!You can collect a floor layout which helps if you are trying to locate a particular store.Debenhams and Next are both situated at the Wood Lane side, whilst M&S is at the rear and House of Fraser is at the Shepherds Bush entrance, next to Waitrose!Obviously weekends will be quite busy now coming up to Christmas - just like everywhere else I guess!

I used it for the first time on friday evening, was searching for a pair of walking boots for a trip I'm abut to go on and didnt hold out much hope of finding anything because its so big, but probably out of good fortune than anything I came across two really good shops and walked off happy! And I hate shopping!
