Yes - the best thing about it is the jolly reaction of everyone round here - the park was ringing with good humour.

I am astonished how London appears to have come to a standstill!  As you say we were warned, the roads and pavements are now turning to ice so now is the time our council workers should be out putting grit down.....but where are they....let me guess, the weather is too bad for them to go out!However there has been one good side to this, normally everybody walks to work, head down, no time of day for anybody.......yet this morning on my walk in people were smiling, taking photos, children were laughing, people were talking to each other.........that was sooo nice.

Our road hasn't been gritted but the width restriction has and churchfield road.My husband saw no evidence of gritting all down the A3 to Cobham - got there in about three hours!I suppose one has to balance the cost of preparedness for something that happens - at this strength - only about once in twenty years with the cost of days lost. It may be quite a balance.

Haven't seen any road gritters at all. Or post men/women, bus drivers, etc. I seem to remember that the weather people told us this snow was coming. Didn't anybody think about preparing for it??
