Bus Lane Cameras - Askew Road junction

I was browsing the Ealing Council site recently looking for info on temporary parking permits when I came across a document which shows the top spots for where PCNs are awarded in the borough.One of the top five was the junction with the Vale and Askew Road.This is basically a trap which serves no other function other than to raise money for the Council. It demonstrably does not help buses run more quickly and is, in my view quite dangerous.When vehicles approach the junction travelling east they are often met by a green phase but a line of traffic in the right hand lane.Some cars cut across the bus lane to go into the left hand lane which is clear and probably these are the main source of PCNs. By definition they couldn't be holding up a bus because the lane is clear.Other drivers aware of the trap stay in the right hand lane until the bus lane ends and then look to move into the left hand lane. I do this and it terrifies me because a few times I have had near misses with cars or buses steaming up the inside lane looking to catch a green light.

Cameras are there not just for fund-raising, I suspect. This is not an especially safe road junction because the turning vehicles pass each other port to port instead of starboard to starboard, which means they are blind to oncoming traffic, especially if a bus blocks the view. Light- and lane-jumping csn be picked up by the cameras.If you don't do the crime, you won't get the fine.

It was the Ealing Council site Vivienne - www.ealing.gov.uk. Can't remember the exact page but I was looking up something to do with CPZs so if you follow links to parking you might find it.

I have received a fine for exactly that in the past. Very annoying and serves no purpose other than to hold up traffic and increase revenue. What was the Site?
