My great uncle in law Emrys(NOT a blood relation to me)used to get his `favourite`sheep in the mood by playing that old classic Seekers song:"I will never find another ewe"

Was that ewe squealing?

one of my wives was Welsh-`many do` is not an estimate-it is a fact..i could name names-i have heard the squealing!2nd question-am not judging anyone elses perceptions-flippancy probably best response. Not gonna get on any high horse. The `caste`system of gipsy families is very complex-feuds last centuries. It is well documented.Traveller is a bit of a recent`one size fits all`term. Is it derogatory?-probably to some gipsies (not me tho-i do not consider any combination of letters offensive as,linguistically,i am a moral relativist). We are all travellers in some way.
Many do?How do you go about estimating the last generalisation?Seriously, Bobby, many people confuse travellers and gypsies...(though I thought my explanation quite clear and totally unjudgmental) does it mean that it's derogatory to do so?

in the same way that not all Spaniards are waiters called Manuel and not all Welshmen take sheep as lovers-though many are and many do.hope that helps.
I think the point is that lots (but not all) of Gypsies are travellers but fewer travellers are true gypsies - there's lots of other sorts of traveller...eco-warriors for example.

I'm not quite sure how you differentiate between the two, are Gipsy's not travellers???? The article on the front page of this site does refer to both.

do you mean gipsys or travellers carol?

Curious that Bojo is not proposing any for Westminster or the City which have none.LBHF had, I thought, got one at Latimer Road almost under Westway shared with RBK&C. I think heavily built-up Inner London boroughs are unsuitable for travellers sites and a lot of sentimental tosh and truly stupid legislation gets in the way of a realistic appraisal of what needs doing. BoJo has put his foot in it again

I remember many years ago on Wormwood Scrubs some travellers arrived, now I am not saying they are all the same but the mess they made was absolutely appalling.
