Yes, I read it too in The Metro or a freeby, and tried hard to put an innocent construct on what he had done but cannot. So choirboy George is not so innocent after all. He may be a Pauline, but from the Barnes site, I believe, not the terra cotta Hammersmith site. He turned ap retty penny from it too.I don't know how the public will remember all this. Probably it will reinforce their loathing of those they already loathed. What has been quite a revelation to me has been how many really quite wealthy Conservatives have topped up their quite considerable existing pots of dosh with a healthy chunk of ours, all within the rules of course. Those who didn't hit the headlines because of duck islands, bath plugs etc. may have got away with it, but it has done immense harm to the reputation of Parliament, much as in Weimar Germany democracy was besmirched for the "betrayal" of siging the Versailles Treaty. I favour a major clear-out by all parties of those who exceeded the moral compass, even if they did so within the rules and under the bizarre guidance of the Fees Office. I also believe that no allowances system should subsaidise the OWNERSHIP of a second home, when there is no tax relief for paying a mortgage on one';s first home (and nothing for rent-payers with incomes above the housing benefit levels).
