Population of Shepherd's Bush

Does anyone have a verifiable source for the population of Shepherd's Bush to help settle an argument? I'm told it is 11,000 based on a reference in the Telegraph but that seems really low to me and I'd like some evidence to back me up.

"Maybe they are planning to redraw the borders and move edward woods over to Ken and chelsea,"I think that if it hadn't been a council estate, they probably would have done so already.  It's an odd detached bit of H&F that you can't leave without entering K&C. Historically, I guess it's always been part of Shepherd's Bush, but geographically I'd say it was in Notting Hill, rather than West Kensington, and the postcode (W11) agrees.

On top of "since Westfield arrived, some bits of Shepherd's Bush have become White City", the residents of Edwards Woods estate will have been surprsed to read in h&F News (proprietor the local council taxpayers) that they live in West Kensington!!! It doesn't say much for the local council that they do not know where their Edwards Woods estate is, nor where West Kensington ends!

As far as I can see, the W12 district corresponds roughly to the original parish of Shepherd's Bush, which was subdivided into several new parishes as the area was developed.  It includes areas such as Wormwood Scrubs, part of East Acton (including the station of that name) and the northern part of Stamford Brook.The W12 postcode district corresponds very roughly to the wards of Shepherd's Bush Green, Askew, Wormholt & White City, and College Park & Old Oak.  The combined population of those four wards in the 2001 census was 41,775.Census data is athttp://www.lbhf.gov.uk/Directory/Council_and_Democracy/Statistics_and_Census_Information/Census_information/20278_2001_Key_Statistics.asp

Broadly speaking I regard the W12 post code district and Shepherd's Bush as being equivalent. Would that be right?

11,000 is roughly the population of Shepherd's Bush Green ward (10,249 in the 2001 census).  But your definition of Shepherd's Bush may include other wards such as Askew, Wormholt & White City, etc.  Perhaps you mean the whole of W12 postcode district?  You'd better define what you mean by Shepherd's Bush first.

It must be more surely. Acton's is given in a recent publication as around 50,000...I wouled have thought it comparable.
