Postal Service and Deliveries

I live and work in the W12 area and for the last few weeks possibly months the postal service has been dreadful. We do not seem to have deliveries every day and are receiving letters posted often anything up tp 7-10 days previously,wvwn from other parts of London with 1st class postage. This is causing major headaches and problems to a small business like ours. No one at Royal Mail seems to care and it is virtually impossible to speak to anyone who is bothered about this sad state of affairs. There were similar problems 2-3 years ago and on that occasion at least the Local Press ran with the story. The HSB Gazette however no longer seems to be interested. If there are sufficient people bothered about this we should all e-mail whoever is responsible at Royal Mail and lobby for a return to a normal service.

I share your pessimism. The worst thing about it is how powerless we the customers appear to be to bring pressure to bear on both the Management and the Union. It is so fustrating especially with these totally unpredictable strikes on a regular basis resulting in delivery chaos. Not sure our Local MP would be able to help though I am sure he would blame the Management wholly for the present mess. I ahall send him an e-mail (we have to sstart somewhere)and I would send one to both the RM CEO and the Union if only I had their e-mail addresses. I shall ask the MP to provide these and if I get them will post them on this forumto encourage others should to do the same.

Now Amazon and other big users of th Royal Mail are withdrawing their contracts, do you think the workers (and the management) will see sense?No, neither did I.

It's one of those things that makes you feel wholly powerless and therefore cross.Royal Mail don't reply even if you contact them about specifics let alone a general "my mail is always late!" whinge...policians say it's a matter for the management...the regulator is in its death throes. Hopeless.

I've had 2 letters from kids' school alerting me of activities they must attend.... 2 days after the event!! There is a big lag in the deliveries.

Yeah, I'm fed up with it. And to top it all off, I ordered a re-delivery for a parcel for Saturday, whereas I hadn't realised my housemate (who was also waiting for a parcel) decided to collect her parcel from Silver Road on Saturday. When the postman knocked at the door with what was supposed to be my parcel, it was my housemates! Which she hadn't requested to be re-delivered. I think the postman are not only striking, but are also stupid too and can't read a somple lable. So after all the effort of ordering a redelivery, I have to go and pick it up anyway (and I'm partially disabled) and my housemate didn't have to do a thing!

It's down to industrial action - intermittant - at the sorting offices. Unluckily for us, West London has the most assertive, unionised workforce - so it's one out, all out. (Not that I am claiming the management is any good either - they abviously aren't).They don't seem to realise that driving the customers away from the postal service is not going to preserve thier jobs - quite the reverse.
