"Maternity" leave for non-parents
Don't listen to Vanessa Feltz's radio programme but saw her talking about an item on her show on BBC News this morning. What she was asking is, should women (and I presume men/paternity leave) who choose not to, or cannot have, children still be entitled to the same employee benefits as those that do and who go on maternity leave? I am presuming she means be given the opportunity for X number of months paid/unpaid leave with no repercussions or questions asked. Just wondering what anybody else thought? I don't and never will have children, and have never really thought why can't I be given the opportunity to take 6 months paid leave........like the idea though.
