Cigarette breaks

I don't smoke but have no problem with people who do.  However I do have a problem with colleagues who disappear for, in the region of 5 minutes at a time, to head downstairs, out of the building to have a cigarette break.  If somebody smokes in the region of 10 cigs during the working day, that constitutes a 50 minute break.  And of course this is on top of the toilet/refreshement breaks. I know employees have to allow people to smoke but maybe us non-smokers should demand a non-cigarette break!

True Sara, I am at work and posting on here but the difference is I am at my desk so if the phone goes or someone needs something I am available.

Don't people network madly through cigarette breaks - I seem to remember reading a novel that was predicated on things happening in the smoking room - though nowadays it would be in the cold cluster by the front door.Can't get upset about it - not given the amount of time some of us spend posting here when we should be working!

I had a young b/f who took up smoking just to get the breaks in his boring job with the others. He's hooked now.
