"Is this council to stop at nothing?"Um, they're low-tax small-state misanthropic libertarian zealots. Things like the Village Hall are, to people like Harry Phibbs and Stephen Greenhalgh, symbolic of the interfering nanny state and a discredited form of social interaction where people actually organise to do things for themselves rather than have nice, simple, legal contracts with private corporations overseen by as little regulation as you can get away with. The strong triumph over the weak, and this is how it's supposed to be, and if the weak feel like organising to resist this, this should be stamped down on firmly (they have a funny blindspot about cutting spending when it comes to the military, oddly enough). So no, they won't stop, they're bonkers ideologues and convinced they're right.
