Is it okay for Buddha to be raving but not greedy?

There was an interesting article on the Fulham site about a controversy over the name of a restaurant - Greedy Buddha Restaurant Attacked as "Sacrilegious" - yet on the Goldhawk Road there is the Raving Buddha pub which seems to have passed without mention. Is this just a case of clever PR in which an artificial storm is created to gain cheap publicity for a business or is it okay for Buddha to rave but not to be greedy?

I can't give you an answer. The greedy Buddha does make some sense as it is a representation of someone who clearly enjoys a good meal. The raving Buddha less so but I don't think offence is intended. As Buddhists have a reputation of being peaceful and easy-going the owners of the businesses may have thought it wouldn't be a problem but recent experience of Buddhists in Sri Lanka and Thailand suggest they can be just as belligerent as the rest of us!

Neither adjective about Buddha seems apposite. However you may be right in the suggestion that it is a storm created to generate publicity. Although The Prince of Wales...? What next? The Jiving Rabbi? The Voracious Vicar? It all seems a little inappropriate, unless I am missing something. Why is it called the Raving Buddha?? I am genuinely curious.
