Old fashioned Milk Man

It's good to see Milk and More being promoted locally. We have been having our milk delivered every day for years by this firm. It is our contribution to reducing the amount of plastic bottles used. They deliver a whole lot more if you want and you can easily manage your deliveries on line, or the old fashioned way with a note in the empties!

We get some of our milk this way.I say some because you don't have to just have bottles from the milkman or plastic from the supermarket/corner shop. You can compromise.We have a regular number of bottles of milk midweek and top up or use up at the weekends.  This allows us to reduce the amount of plastic we use and have to squash and recycle.  The glass bottles of course have a longer life as they can be REUSED more than 10 times and are collected more than once a week!We also reckon that by not having to go shopping as often we save money.  Have you noticed how the supermarkets put the milk right across the far end of the store.  That is to make you walk past as many temptations as possible en route!As the Channel 4 Dispatches programme showed it still has not reached everybody's consciousness that the plastic ones are recyclable - a terrible fact considering that it would seem that the local community milk round seems to have been sacrificed in the great push to create a closed loop plastics recycling system.  The elderly, less able and sick have always relied on this doorstep delivery.www.milkandmore.co.uk    You can deal with them online or as Vivienne has said with a note in a bottle
