Shepherd's Bush Green

Construction wokers are seting up on the Green. Does anyone know if they're there to start refurbishments? I hope no trees will be cut down. All they really need to do is retarmac the paths, install good lighting, nice benches and new railings. That's it. Let's see what happens.

Well, if that's the case, let's hope they'll employ further economy in their felling. I can't wait to see what new trees they're planning for the Green.

They did not say  that no trees would be felled. Just that the Chestnut in the SW corner was to be preserved. the Lime opposite the Charecroft community centre has been cut down too. They promise an overall increase in trees.

I've just noticed that at least one tree on the the north-west corner of the green has been marked for demolition. I thought no major trees were to be cut down. This whole makeover may turn out to be one big white elephant.

PROBABLY BEST TO STICK TO ONE SITE AS THE GREEN ISSUES AND GOLDHAWK /MARKET /  UXBRIDGE ROAD PROBS  ARE ALL LINKED TOGETHER AS ONE MAJOR SITE ..eg : shops /drugs / dossers / more police needed /2 new hotels etc .... so getting a wider united readership ...#

Hopefully, the proof will be in the pudding. I hope the basic characteristics of the Green (and, indeed, the Market) will still be in place.

I just hope that once it's done, it will be maintained properly which was always its failing. I also hope that the rule of not feeding the pigeons (rats) and now gulls, will be enforced. People dumping a shopping trolley full of bread on the pavement does nothing for the Green. Hopefully the hotel once completed at the old Mecca Bingo/ cinema will insist on the area being maintained.
