Thoughts on closure of SB police station?

Considering the likely almost doubling of the residential population of SBG "metropolitan town centre" over the next 5-10 years, (see the WCOA plans) it seems odd that SB police station is up for the chop as well as A&Es at both Charing X and Hammersmith hospitals. 'They' clearly seem to recognise the need for more schools given the large number of additional school places being provided and funded! So why cut other services?

Regarding A&E closures, having recently been rushed to hospital in critical condition, I am thankful that hammersmith A&E was still available to me.  as minutes made a big difference to my treatment and recovery.  I dread to think what the outcome will be of a similar crisis in the future ( highly likely i,m told,with my ongoing condition) when hammersmith is closed.

I'm less worried about the closure of stations that the possible erosion of the Safer Neighbourhood Team system which was working well. At this stage it seems to be surviving the changes and if anything more emphasis is being placed on it.School places have to be provided if there are school aged children in the area so cutting isn't an option.As for A&E closures I would have thought that the capacity would not be impacted i.e. there will be fewer centres but they will be able to handle more patients.

Regarding the police, personally I would rather see more doing walkabouts than sat behind a counter.  More of a police presence on the streets may well deter criminals and allow for members of the public to report something face to face.As regards closure of A&E's.  Considering how fast the population is growing should they not be creating more accident and emergency centre's rather than merging them.  If the one's we currently have struggle, surely all that will happen is the larger A&E's will become so busy that they will not be able to cope.  After all there can only be so many numbers of cubicles/beds in A&E, the waiting areas will be like a disaster area.  And in turn this will create longer waiting time's and more pressue on the staff which can only result in patients receiving lower level of care. I would have thought by having more but smaller emergency centre's this would not only help the doctor's, nurses and ambulance staff but also those in need of medical attention.
