Man in Hospital After Blast in Fulham


Controlled explosion on building site went off prematurely

A man has been taken to hospital after he was injured in an explosion on a building site on Townmead Road, Fulham.

It is understood that a controlled explosion was planned at the site but it went off ahead of schedule.

 

Fulham Broadway has been closed in both directions while emergency services deal with the incident. As well as the police, London Ambulance and the London Fire Brigade are at the scene.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said, "Police were called at 8.59am on Thursday, June 20 to building site in Townmead Road, Hammersmith & Fulham where a controlled explosion has gone off ahead of the scheduled time.

"One man has been injured and taken to hospital. No update as to the extent of his injuries."

No one has been arrested but police have informed the Health and Safety Executive.

Bus route 391 now starts and terminates at Fulham Broadway.
