Fulham Stabbing Victim Named as Colin Hammond


Police continue to appeal for witnesses to 65 year-old's murder

Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Fulham High Street have named the victim as 65 year-old Colin Hammond. 

Officers were called at around 6.55pm Thursday October25 to the scene, close to Putney Bridge, following reports of an assault. 

Mr Hammond, who was said by local people to be the former concierge of a local luxury block of flats, was found at the scene suffering from stab wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr Hammond, of Fulham, was formally identified on Tuesday October 30 at Fulham mortuary

A post-mortem on conducted on Friday 26 October at Fulham mortuary gave cause of death as single knife wound.

A man aged 27 was arrested near the scene on suspicion of murder and was taken to a west London police station. He was subsequently sectioned under the Mental Health Act for a period of assessment

An incident room is open under DI Craig Bradley (Homicide and Serious Crime Command). He says: "I still am appealing for any people who were in the area and witnessed this incident, or the events leading up to this incident, to come forward and speak to my team.

"At this early stage it is unclear what the motive for this incident was - if you saw anything, or have any information which may help the investigation, please get in contact."
