Sulivan School Consultation Period Extended
While responses to date are on display on Tuesday and Wednesday
The council has has extended the deadline for representations to its consultation over the future of Sulivan Primary School in Fulham until December 11, with the final decision by the council’s Cabinet now scheduled for January 2014.
Meanwhile responses received to date to the council’s consultation on the proposal to amalgamate New King’s and Sulivan schools on the New King’s site will be on public display at Lilla Huset Professional Centre on Tuesday 26 and Wednesday 27 November, from 9am to 8pm.
A three month consultation on the proposals took place between July and October and the council acknowledges that a majority of responses opposed the proposals: 2,226 against, and 1,367 in favour.
The council also claims that a majority of parents supported the proposals, but its own report, published in October, revealed that while 1,107 supported the plans, compared with 1,036 who did not, only 60 supporters were associated with the affected schools - 23 from Sulivan and 37 from New King's - while 1,047 were from "other" schools.
The report admits that these "other" favourable responses were largely from those associating themselves with the new Fulham Boys' Free School, which is hoping to take over Sulivan School's site if and when it is vacated.

Despite the community's opposition, October 18 the council proceeded to issue statutory notices inviting further representations from the public on the proposals. The complete proposals were published on October 30, and the six-week period for representations was extended to December 11 at Sulivan School’s request.
