Goldhawk Road Development Given Go Ahead Despite Residents' Protests

Fury as decision is rushed through by committee

Plans to build 66 houses on the site of a former old people's home at 282 Goldhawk Road have been approved by Hammersmith and Fulham Council, despite vigorous opposition from local people.

Ashchurch Residents Association held two protests on Wednesday, at the site of the proposed development and outside the town hall, ahead of the planning committee meeting.

Goldhawk Road Development Given Go Ahead

Local people living in the Starch Green Conservation Area say that the development proposed by Places for People has been rushed through by the committee, with papers published recommending its approval even before the formal consultation period closed.

The association, who collected a petition with 400 signatures against the development,  say there is unanimous opposition to it from local residents, and were asking for the hearing to be deferred until January so proper consideration could be given to the many objections.

But their requests fell on deaf ears and after four and a half hours, the planning committee gave the scheme the go ahead.
