A man has died after being hit by a train near East Acton London Underground station on Monday evening (21 August).

The police say they attempted to stop a car on Du Cane Road just after 8.30pm.

The vehicle eventually did come to a halt after colliding with another car and several people exited and made off. A man in the other vehicle was taken to hospital as a precaution.

A short time later a man was spotted near the train tracks before being hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has yet to be named and the police say they are working on identifying him.

As is normal in such circumstances, the Met's Directorate of Professional Standards has launched an investigation.

The Central Line was suspended during the incident and Du Cane Road was closed but both have since reopened.
