London Fire Brigade reports that on Wednesday morning, there were still four fire engines and around 20 firefighters at the scene and added that crews were working hard to make sure there are no remaining spots of fire within the stack of tyres. Bath Road is expected to remain closed until at least lunchtime today.

The Fire Brigade says eight fire engines and around 40 firefighters were frst called to the fire on Bath Road in Hounslow yesterday afternoon at around 4pm.

Station Manager Mark Ripley, who was at the scene, said: "Our crews worked really hard to bring this fire under control and although no-one in the area had to be evacuated,  because the fire has generated a lot of smoke, we advised  residents to keep doors and windows closed as a precaution."

The Brigade's 999 control officers took around 90 calls to the fire which, because of the smoke, was visible across large parts of London, with sightings of the massive smoke plume as far away as Shepherd's Bush and Hammersmith.

The Brigade says fire was under control by 1821. Firefighters from Heathrow, Heston, Southall and Kingston fire stations attended the incident, and the fire was under control by 6.21pm on Tuesday evening.
