Tony Devenish Holds West Central for Tories
While Sadiq Khan celebrates historic victory in Mayoral race

The West Central constituency, made up of the boroughs of Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham, has been held by the Tories, with their candidate Tory Devenish by a margin of almost 14,000 against Labour's Mandy Richards.
The constituency gave the largest number of first preference votes to Zac Goldsmith who finished second to Sadiq Khan in the contest for Mayor. In the vote for Londonwide seats in the Assembly, once again the Conservatives got the largest number of votes with Labour in second and the Liberal Democrats in third.
Speaking after the result was announced, Mr
Devenish told the Standard: " I'm excited. It's the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham and Westminster - it's the greatest bits of London.
"My priority will be the same as Zac Goldsmith - housing, transport, law and order and clean air.
"I'm going to make sure we listen to local people."
He also said proposals for Crossrail 2 in the Kings Road would also come under scrutiny.
He added: "Both Mayoral candidates said they will review it. We want the infrastrcture but it's about how it's implemented.
"We need to look at Imperial Wharf and improve infrastructure for all local people."
Mr Devenish is a long serving Westminster City Councillor for the Knightsbridge and Belgravia ward, and has served as Senior Planning Chairman.
Sadiq Khan is the city's new mayor, after beating Tory Zac Goldsmith by 1,310,143 votes to 994,614. He secured the largest majority ever for a London Mayor. The confirmation of the result was delayed due to problems with London Elect's electronic vote counting system.
Mr Khan said, "This election has not been without controversy. I am so proud that London has chosen hope over fear and unity over division. I hope we will never be offered such a stark choice again."
