Deadline for Primary School Admissions Approaching

Parents must submit applications by January 15

Parents of children due to start primary schools in Hammersmith and Fulham in September 2011 or January 2012 have just a few days left to apply before the deadline of January 15.

Saturday is the cut-off date for both online and paper applications, and all applications received after this date will be treated as late.

This year, for the first time, primary school applications in our borough will be part of the pan-London admissions scheme. Under this ‘one-stop system, parents submit one application listing six schools in order of preference, even if some of their preferred schools are outside of the borough.

The council then co-ordinates its offers of school places with other London boroughs, ensuring that no one is offered more than one place.

There will be a single, London-wide offer day on Monday April 4 when parents across the capital will be sent the outcome of their application.

A step-by-step guide to applying for primary school in Hammersmith & Fulham:

Read the information on the council's website  about primary schools, as well as detailed admissions information in the Starting School booklet
Contact the schools themselves to get more information and arrange to visit schools you are interested in
You can apply online or pick up a paper application form from any local authority nursery or primary school
You can choose up to six primary schools, which you rank in order of preference
