Union call off action after 'enough progress' was made in talks with London Underground

A 24 hour strike on the Central Line which was due to begin on Friday evening has been suspended.

The RMT union has announced on Thursday that it has called off the industrial action, which had been scheduled to last from 8pm on Friday till 8pm on Saturday, after 'enough progress' has been made in talks with London Underground.

When announcing their intention to strike, the union says that had been a 'comprehensive breakdown in industrial relations', and accused LU of a failure to employ enough drivers, a wholesale abuse of agreed procedures as well as the victimisation of a trade union member.

The planned action followed a 24 hour strike on 7 November which shut down the service completely and the union have reportedly said there may be further action in 2019.
