The latest round of work to repair and maintain the A40 Westway resumes in the New Year after the project was suspended over the Christmas period.

On weekends from Friday 3 January to Monday 17 February 2025, the road will be closed eastbound between the Westway roundabout and Marylebone Flyover whilst TfL carries out repair and maintenance which it describes as ‘safety critical’. The 50-year-old expansion joints, which allow the flyover to expand and contract with the weather, have reached the end of their useful life according to TfL.

The closure will take place at weekends only from 10pm on Fridays to 5pm on Mondays. The road will reopen after each weekend closure.

Signed diversion routes will be in place, but local roads are expected to be extremely busy.

Use alternative routes such as the A312 The Parkway or the A406 North Circular for connections with the A4.

From Friday 21 February to Monday 19 May 2025 the work on the eastbound carriageway is scheduled to be complete and closures begin on the westbound carriageway.

There will be no closures on these bank holiday weekends: 18-21 April (Easter), 2-5 May, 23-26 May.

Roadworks are being focused on weekends to limit disruption to side streets and TfL has pledged that residents will be kept updated, and nighttime noise and light will be limited.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We’ve always done that and won’t be changing, in fact we’d like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.
