Douglas & Gordon Staff Hit The Streets on December 1

Collecting food to fill hampers on the second Kids Company Charity Day

Following the success of last year's Douglas & Gordon/ Kids Company Charity Day, the estate agent will once again be closing all of its offices for the day on Thursday, December 1 to collect food to fill Christmas hampers for London’s vulnerable children.

Staff from all 18 offices across London will be taking to the streets in aid of the children’s charity - Kids Company. Sporting the official bright blue ‘Give it up for Kids Co’ sweater, they will be foraging for non-perishable food to fill Christmas hampers for thousands of vulnerable children in London.

Douglas & Gordon will be visiting as many streets as possible in the area covered by offices in Fulham and Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush to collect any donations. Aternatively these can be dropped off in advance to any of the company’s branches. The thousands of items collected will then be ferried via specially commissioned lorries all day long to the Kids Company headquarters in Blackfriars, where Douglas & Gordon staff will be wrapping the presents ready for Christmas.

Staff of Douglas and Gordon Estate Agents

Ivor Dickinson, Douglas & Gordon’s Managing Director, says: “Last year we helped Kids Company to collect seven tons of non perishable food and over £8,000 in donations to ensure that 600 food hampers were hand delivered to families most in need over the Christmas period.

“This year we are hoping to collect enough food and toys to fill even more Christmas Hampers for many more of London’s vulnerable children and their families.

" I’m really, really hoping that homeowners will get behind this very worthwhile cause and give generously in any way they can. So if you live anywhere between Notting Hill in the north and Balham in the south, please be ready for us as we’ll most likely be knocking on your door on December 1st. ”

Suggested non-perishable items include rice, pasta, jams, tinned foods, breakfast cereals, biscuits, fruit juices and most heartbreaking of all, baby food.

If people aren’t going to be home they can deliver produce to Douglas & Gordon’s local offices: the Fulham office at 656 Fulham Road or the Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush office at 118 - 120 Glenthorne Road W6

You cann also donate by texting ‘KIDSHELP’ to 70700 (£5 will be deducted from your phone bill) or donate a Christmas present directly by visiting the Kids Company Wish List: Gift List Number 484121 at John Lewis.
