Portobello Magic Comes To Brackenbury

Residents hold thier first community yard sale

It’s another win-win situation for Brackenbury residents and visitors. There is going to be a communal de-clutter in and around Brackenbury on Saturday May 8th, 11am-3pm.

Residents win by making valuable space in their homes, and making a bit of money. Visitors win by finding fabulous and unusual bargains. And the organisers win by receiving a percentage of takings to raise funds for the Goldhawk Estate Appeal.

Around 20+ homes are taking part. You may find vintage clothes, designer jewellery, bric-a-brac, furniture, paintings, plants, toys, clothes, china and books. Each Yard will have a golden helium balloon to mark the spot, and there will be a list of addresses to help you navigate your way. The idea is to wander from street to street rummaging for treasure. There are some very interesting people living in and around Brackenbury Village, so you never know what delights you might unearth. If it is a success, it may well become a regular event. In parts of Europe, a communal de-clutter is a regular and much-loved occasion.

All residents with a drive, front garden or even steps to display items for sale have been invited to take part. So please, put on some stylish walking shoes, fill your wallets, and have some fun while helping us to fund raise to save Goldhawk Industrial Estate, with its 200 jobs, from being turned into an unsightly housing development.

To get a list of Yard Sale addresses, head to Providence Villas, Brackenbury Rd, W6 or to 45 Bradmore Park Rd, W6. Then, follow the golden balloons! For more information please Email: goldhawkappeal@googlemail.com .
