Hammersmith Community Gardens Association Events in October

Starting with bulb planting days at Loris Gardens and Ravenscourt Park Glasshouses

Hammersmith Community Gardens Association is holding a bulb planting day in Loris Gardens on Sunday 1 October from 11am till 3pm. The association says it will have hundreds of bulbs to plant and needs as many people as possible to help.

On its website, the HCGA adds: "We will provide all the tools and the biscuits! Stay for an hour or stay all day."

On Tuesday 3 October, the Grow Well project for older people is holding taster sessions at Ravenscourt Park Glasshouses from 10am till midday, where they will be planting spring bulbs and cuttings to take home.

Now in its fifth year, our popular Grow Well project continues to thrive. These sessions are held in the peace and beauty of the Ravenscourt Park glasshouses and its walled garden filled with flowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables.

The project's morning sessions offer those with some additional needs the chance to join stimulating, structured sessions covering gardening, cooking, tasting and arts and crafts activities. Changing with the seasons, these sessions are well received and enjoy great feedback from attendees.

Afternoon sessions for carers offer similar engaging activities and allow attendees a break from their caring roles and a chance to relax within the supportive group in lovely surroundings.

Booking is not required but the HCGA says it would appreciate it if you could email info@hcga.org.uk to say you will be coming along.

These sessions will be followed by a volunteer induction sesson on 4 October from 10am till 11.30am.

HCGA holds induction sessions for those wishing to volunteer at the Glasshouses in Ravenscourt Park on the first Wednesday of every month

These sessions offer an opportunity to find out more about volunteering projects, how you can get involved, as well as an opportunity to visit the association's sites.

They are informal, and offer the chance to meet current and new volunteers.
