Visit Artists at Home this Weekend

70 local artists show off their work to visitors

The latter half of June has become a tradition for art-lovers in Chiswick, Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush. 40 years ago, the local open studio scheme was started by the late Mary Fedden and Julian Trevelyan in their studios on the river. This made it one of the first of its kind in the country.

This year 70 artists will welcome visitors over the weekend of 13-15 June . As usual, there is a rich diversity of disciplines and styles range from hyper-realism to abstract.  There are things to wear (jewellery and textiles) things for the table or for decoration (ceramics, glass, mosaic and sculpture) and a wide range of 2D work for the walls (painting, prints, photography).

Friday 13 June: 6-9pm

Saturday 14 June: 11am-6pm

Sunday 15 June: 11am-6pm

Families are welcome, and it is a great way to introduce children to art. The sight of small babies staring at large canvases, buggies in the hall, and bikes  and dogs in the front garden allhelp to create a relaxed atmosphere; the Sunday happily coincides with Fathers’ Day. There is no charge for admission, refreshments are usually available and although artists are always pleased to make a sale, browsing is very welcome.
