Ugli Voted Best Business in Shepherd's Bush

Wood Lane creative campus comes top in Brilliant Business Awards

Ugli, White City's Creative and Media Campus has been voted the best business in Shepherd's Bush in this year's Brilliant Business Awards.

Ugli, in a surplus BBC building opposite Television Centre on Wood Lane, was created with the support of the BBC and offers " a truly communal space" - providing affordable office space and meeting areas for local people setting up businesses.

Ugli, whose website has the appropriate title Lovely Inside says its launch in 2011, the campus has grown into a community of like-minded companies encouraging the growth of each other's business.

On their blog, Ugli celebrates its success in the awards, saying: " We're really pleased for all of our Ugli member companies to share in this image-boosting honour, and hope it has a great impact on their businesses.

" Ugli is a great success story in the power of up-cycling in an age of huge budget raze-and-rebuilt development."

Runners-up in the category were KSK Associates, architects based in Ellingham Road in Shepherd's Bush.

Other well known local names featuring in the awards were The Bush Theatre, which won the overall title of Favourite Business, estate agents Horton and Garton, winners of the Marketing Award and Best Independent Local Business and runner-up in the Innovation Award and Finlay Brewer, runner-up in Best Supporter of the Community.

Shepherd's Bush hairdressers Cherry Red meanwhile were runner-up in the Best Customer Service category, while the Cherry Red's Bonnie was voted Employee of the Year.

They were among businesses of all shapes and sizes, including pubs, estate agents, restaurants and hairdressers from across the borough who won awards in 14 categories at Hammersmith Town Hall on November 26.
