More than 30 blocks have not been risk assessed, according to report
More than 30 tower blocks in Hammersmith and Fulham have not been assessed for fire safety, according to a BBC report.
Under the Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005, councils must conduct fire risk assessments before and during major refurbishments.
But an investigation by BBC London found that 34 council-owned tower blocks in Hammersmith and Fulham had not had proper fire checks carried out on them.
We asked H&F Homes to tell us which tower blocks in the borough had not been assessed, to explain why the proper checks had not taken place and to tell us when these checks would happen. We received no reply from them.
However, the BBC say they will publish the full findings of their investigation in about a week's time.
Using the Freedom of Information Act, the BBC asked every council in London how many blocks over six storeys they had, when they were last refurbished, when the last fire risk assessment took place and which official had responsibility for ensuring compliance with the fire safety regime in place since 2006.
The BBC's investigation comes after a serious fire last summer in a 12-storey block in Southwark, in which six people died.
