Children and adults invited to visit 190 - 192 Shepherd's Bush Road
Doors open to the public at Hammersmith Fire Station on Wednesday August 24 as it hosts an open day to celebrate London Fire Brigade’s 150th anniversary
The open day offers both children and adults to look behind the scenes and gain an nsight into the running of a working London fire station as well as meeting the firefighters who serve the local community.
Between 12pm and 4pm, budding firefighters will be able to have a go squirting water from a hose reel and climbing into the driver’s seat of a fire engine.
Green watch crew members will put on a demonstration how they deal with serious road traffic collisions and visitors to the open day can see the tools used to help free someone trapped in a vehicle.
The Brigade’s fire investigation dogs, Fire Cadets and Museum team will talk about the work they do alongside firefighters and answer questions about what they do day-to-day.
Firefighters will also be on hand to answer any questions visitors may have and will offer general home fire safety advice.
Playmobil are helping the Fire Brigade to organise 65 special open days across London to celebrate the Brigade’s 150th anniversary and limited-edition London Fire Brigade versions of popular PLAYMOBIL Fire Brigade sets have also been created for little ones to learn through play at home.
Ten per cent of proceeds will be donated to the Brigade’s charities of choice, with toys available from April to purchase at the open days and from Playmobil customer services.
