Lashley Guilty of Jaabe Roberts Murder

Killer sentenced to life imprisonment at Old Bailey

A 44 year-old man man has been found guilty of the murder of Jaabe Roberts at the Old Bailey.

Karl Lashley of Askew Road, appeared for trial on Thursday, December 9, charged with the murder of 28 year-old Jaabe
in Askew Road on Wednesday June 9.

He was found guilty of the murder on December 21 and sentenced to life imprisonment, with a minimum of 18 years.

Police were alerted to the incident after the London Ambulance Service were called at around 4am on June 9 where Jaabe - pronounced Jay-be - was found collapsed with a stab wound to his chest.

Police say it would appear that Jaabe had been involved in a disagreement with Lashley at Lashley's flat in Askew Road. This resulted in Lashley stabbing Jaabe with a small kitchen knife.

Jaabe made his way into the street where he collapsed and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The murder was investigated by the Metropolitan Police Service and Homicide and Serious Crime Command.

As we reported in the summer, Karl Lashley was arrested on June 17 and charged with murder the next day.

DI Tony Bishop, of the HSCC, said: " We are committed to making London a safer city for everyone. The
investigating team worked tirelessly to ensure that all available evidence was put before the court.

" I would like to thank the many witnesses and the community in Shepherds Bush who came forward to give evidence.

" Our thoughts remain with the family of Jaabe Roberts who have lost a brother and son."
