Sign Up to Pay Council Tax by Direct Debit

And be in with a chance of winning £25,000

Sign up to pay your council tax by direct debit and you could win a bonus of £25,000.

Hammersmith and Fulham Council is one of 16 London boroughs taking part in this year’s prize draw. To be in with a chance of winning the £25,000 prize,  residents must register to pay their council tax bill by direct debit before 5pm on July 17, either by returning a completed direct debit Instruction form by post, signing-up to direct debit online at www.lbhf.gov.uk/counciltax, or calling 020 8748 3020 to arrange over the phone.

Residents who already pay their council tax by direct debit will automatically be entered into the prize draw.

The council says it is encouraging people to sign up because processing direct debits is cheaper than other methods, creating long-term cost savings to the council.

The council says 41,000 taxpayers have already signed up and this equates to a significant annual saving each year, with the proceeds ploughed back into frontline services.

Cllr Max Schmid, Cabinet Member for Finance, says: " Paying your council tax by direct debit not only makes the process easier it helps the council’s money go further to pay for vital services and reduce fees and charges.

" We hope the chance to win £25,000 will encourage even more residents to pay this way."

Hammersmith and Fulham Council adds that it is the only local authority in London making a cut to council tax in 2015. The 1% cut to council tax means the average Band D taxpayer will now be charged 727.81, which rises to £1022.61 once the Greater London Authority adds its precept.
