Local Landmarks Up for Planning Awards

Dorsett Hotel and 10 Hammersmith Grove shortlisted

Two local landmarks are among buildings shortlisted for this year's London Planning Awards.

The Dorsett Shepherd's Bush, the new Chinese inspired hotel on Shepherd's Bush Green, is shortlisted for Best Heritage Led Project.

The seven storey Dorsett Shepherd's Bush is set within a Grade II listed building, built in 1923, on the west side of Shepherd's Bush Green, which was originally known as The Shepherd's Bush Pavilion, and retains the building's historic façade.

Hammersmith office building 10 Hammersmith Grove meanwhile has been shortlisted for Best New Place to Work.

10 Hammersmith Grove, built on the site of a former car park opposite Lyric Square in the town centre, was completed in the summer of 2013 and has attracted big companies inlcuing UKTV and Accor Hotels as well as restaurants Bill's and Byron's on the ground.

Construction is now underway on a second building, 12 Hammersmith Grove, which is due to be completed early in 2016.

The London Planning Awards are organised by London First, in conjunction with the Mayor of London, the Royal Town Planning Institute and London Councils. The awards celebrate the outstanding contribution of planners to the capital’s urban regeneration.

The 2015 awards will be held on February 3.

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, says " With 100,000 people moving to London every year, bold and creative planning has never been of more importance. These awards shine a light on the crème de la crème of the industry and show how integral good quality planning is to ensure that London remains the best city in the world to live, work and visit."
