Hammersmith Police Station Front Counter Moves to Shepherd's Bush |
Uxbridge Road Station temporarily reopened as Met plan major renovations The front counter at Shepherd's Bush Police Station in Uxbridge Road has been temporarily reopened while Hammersmith Station in Shepherd's Bush Road is closed in preparation for major renovations. This is now the borough's only front counter open around the clock seven days a week, serving both Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush communities. The front counter at the borough's other station, Fulham police station in Fulham Road is open Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, and Saturday noon to 8pm. Following a public consultation in July, the Met Police have now submitted a planning application to Hammersmith & Fulham Council outlining the changes they hope to make to the Grade II-listed 1930s police station in Hammersmith. These include a four-storey rear extension with an improved 24/7 front counter, upgrades to the station’s digital technology, a new custody suite and an expanded stables to help maintain the borough’s mounted police presence. If the renovation and expansion of Hammersmith station is approved, the front counter will return when works are completed. "The existing 1930s police station in Hammersmith is in need of significant redevelopment to provide modern facilities," said H&F Borough Commander, Met Police ChSupt Gideon Springer.
