West London Free School Referendum Debate Cancelled

Event called off out of respect for murdered MP Jo Cox

The debate on the EU that was to be held at West London Free School tonight (17 June) has been cancelled following the death of Jo Cox.

Both campaigns have been suspended in the wake of the murder of the Bately and Spen MP.

The debate was to have seen Toby Young speaking for the Leave campaign and Stephen Greenhalgh, former head of Hammersmith and Fulham Council and ex-Deputy Mayor of London for Policing and Crime, was to represent Remain. The guest speakers were to be seconded by pupils from the school.

The event was to be the start of a programme of regular staged events which the West London Free School’s headmaster, Mr. Jones wants to feature throughout the year.

Guest speakers will be invited to come and talk on history, arts, the sciences, current affairs etc to promote the School, not only for the benefit of its pupils and parents but for the wider local community.
