Strictly Star Karen Hardy Joins Jubilee Tea Dance

And teaches mayor Belinda some fancy new dance steps!

Strictly Dancing star Karen Hardy came along to Hammersmith Town Hall on September 20 to join over 300 older ballroom dancing fans who were taking to the floor for the Mayor’s Jubilee Tea Dance.

Karen, who runs her own dance studio in Fulham's Imperial Wharf, said: " It’s the first tea dance I’ve come to and I’m really excited to see what’s going on. It’s that season to
get together, to celebrate and what better way than having a dance together?"

Karen, who is now running lessons for children at her studio added: "We always say that ballroom dancing is for five to 105 year olds! It’s a skill you can use at any time of life – and today proves that."

There were dance exhibitions from teenage ballroom champions, 18-year-olds Matt Dean and Sophie Webb, who performed a foxtrot and rumba, amongst others. Music was provided by husband and wife team, DJs Terry and
Rita Crump and students from London Oratory School in Seagrave Road served the food and drinks.

Meanwhile Hammersmith and Fulham mayor, Cllr Belinda Donovan, was showing off some fancy new dance moves, after getting some tips from Karen. " The tea dance was a fantastic day and shows that age is no barrier to enjoying yourself and keeping active and fit," she said. " I was thrilled to be asked to dance so many times with our lovely residents, and to use some of my newly acquired moves, thanks to Karen!

"We appreciate our older residents and this was a chance to show them that, and everyone had a wonderful time."
