Warm Banks Providing Local Refuge During Cold Weather
Borough's libraries as well as a pub and a museum opening up

With fuel bills set to reach an all-time high over the winter period a number of public buildings across the borough of Hounslow are being opened to provide a space to keep warm during the day.
In Brentford, Chiswick and Isleworth, as well as the public libraries, a pub and a museum are providing refuge.
There will also be an opportunity to access help, support, and learn new skills at some of the locations or you can simply come in to use free wi-fi, have a hot drink and read a book.
Free ‘warm packs’ will be put together to distribute to vulnerable local people known to Adult Social Services including clothing, toiletries, door hanger room thermometers, and advice on how best to keep the fuel bills down.
The Six Bells pub in Brentford has opened its doors to those ‘in genuine need’ to come inside into the warm and get a free hot drink and a bowl of soup.
The venues participating and times they are open are as follows.

• Digital drop in every Friday 12.00 - 2.00pm
Six Bells Pub, 148 High St Brentford, TW8 8EW
Pub is open daily from 12.00 - 6.00pm. They offer soup and bread to anyone that needs it on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays plus free use of WiFi and sanitary wear for ladies that need it.

Hot drinks will be available at all venues.
Councillor Shivraj Grewal, Cabinet Member for Communities, Equalities and Culture, said. “This isn’t just about saving money on energy bills, but also about providing places where residents, especially those who are isolated, will get a warm welcome from the council and our partner organisations, while at the same time, maybe learning new skills or meeting new people. Sadly, the cost-of-living crisis doesn’t stop for Christmas”.
