Hammersmith and Fulham Marks Remembrance Day on Sunday

With two Parades to War Memorials in Fulham and Shepherd's Bush

Men and women who gave their lives in two world wars and other conflicts around the world will be honoured during two Remembrance Sunday events this Sunday, November 10.

H & F Mayor, Cllr Frances Stainton will join the march to Fulham War Memorial, while the Deputy Mayor, Cllr Adronie Alford, will attend a service at Shepherd's Bush Green.

The full details of the parades and services are as follows:

Fulham parade and service

The procession will gather in Parsons Green Lane at 10.20am and march via New Kings Road to the Fulham War Memorial, in Vicarage Garden, next to All Saints' Church. The open air Service at Fulham War Memorial will be the responsibility of the Reverend Joseph Hawes, Vicar of All Saints' Church, Fulham.

At the end of the service, the parade will march back to Fulham House, 87 Fulham High Street.

Shepherds Bush parade and service

The procession will gather in Sulgrave Road at 10.15am and march to Shepherds Bush Green War Memorial. The open air service at the  memorial will be conducted by the Reverend Canon David Tann and Rabbi Geoffrey Shisler.

At the end of the service, there will be a march past in Shepherd's Bush Road at which the Deputy Mayor will take the salute and the parade will finish in Westwick Gardens. 

Cllr Stainton’s chosen mayoral charity is Walking with the Wounded, which funds the re-training and re-education of wounded servicemen and women with the aim of helping them find long term employment after they have left the Armed Forces.

Cllr Stainton says: "We must never forget the sacrifices of the men and women, who gave their lives for our freedom, in the two world wars and the many other conflicts across the world. We must also remember their families, especially those who have lost loved ones in recent conflicts in Iraq or Afghanistan and the wounded servicemen and women who are going through difficult times.

“The parades and services in Shepherd's Bush and Fulham this Remembrance Sunday serve as a small way of showing that we appreciate our armed forces. We will be wearing our poppies with pride and I hope as many people as possible will be able to join me to pay their respects on this important day."
