Shepherd's Bush Empire Signs Ten Year Sponsorship Deal with O2

Phone company will continue to be 'naming partner' with special deals for customers

The venue on Shepherd's Bush Green is one of 19 venues which have signed a deal making the telecommunications giant their "naming partner".

The deal is good news for O2 customers, who are offered a range of perks. For instance, the number of tickets available to them through the Priority Tickets scheme is doubling, and they are also offered fast-track entry, free cloakroom facilities and discounts on drinks.

It is also good news for the 110 year O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire, to give it its full title, as it secure its future as a top music venue in W12

In December 2015, it was forced to close for emergency repairs and did not reopen until July 2016.

At the time, the Academy Music Group, which owns and operates the Empire said repairs to the building required propping the roof from inside.

O2 CMO Nina Bibby says: "We know our customers love live experiences, and O2 Academy venues are a huge part of the UK’s live music scene, which is why we’re extremely pleased to be continuing our longstanding relationship with both Live Nation and Academy Music Group”.

The Grade II listed Empire is one of W12's most historic landmarks. It was originally built in 1903 for impresario Oswald Stoll as a music hall. In 1953 it was sold to the BBC and became the BBC Television Theatre, before becoming a music venue in 1991.
