Westfield Offers Up to £1,000 to Local Community Groups

Latest stage of grants scheme now open for applications

Local community groups are once again being invited to apply for grants of up to £1,000 through Westfield London’s Community Grants Programme.

Applications are now open for the latest stage of the scheme which has already given more than £20,000 to organisations working to make a difference to the lives of local residents, with 21 groups benefiting since its launch in 2016.

Groups from the north of the borough can apply by 4th May through the programme’s website here .

Submissions should fit with one of three themes: Innovative and creative approaches to employment and training; opportunities for young people aged 16-24; and support for people with disabilities or health problems.

Recipients will be selected later that month by a panel including representatives from Westfield, Hammersmith & Fulham Council, Big Local, Edward Woods Community Centre and the Bush Theatre.

"We’re excited to be supporting even more projects that will make a difference for residents.”

Those which have already received funding include Women Make Change, a charity that promotes and protects the health and safety of girls and women affected by domestic violence, and The Flying Gorillas, an out-of-school children’s activity provider which used the money to run breakdancing classes for young people on the Westway Travellers’ site.

Westfield launched the initiative as part of its wider community engagement ahead of the £600 million expansion of Westfield London.

This is the fourth round of funding and the first since the launch of the expansion, six months ahead of schedule, on 20 March this year.

The opening has seen the centre become the largest in Europe in its tenth anniversary year.
