Westfield Recruits Famous Faces to Promote Launch of Phase Two

As centre prepares for grand opening of John Lewis and neighbouring stores

Westfield London has recruited four famous faces to tell the world about the launch of Phase 2, its new extension, which will open its doors to the public on Tuesday, 20 March.

James Corden, Nigella Lawson, Adwoa Aboah and Miss Piggy will feature in a campaign called Meet The New Neighbours, to mark the launch of Westfield 2, which is creating around 8,000 local jobs.

The new £600 million Westfield 2 is set to open in three phases, with the launch fully completed for its tenth anniversary celebration on 30 October. By then it will have added 90 new stores, making the Shepherd's Bush shopping centre the largest in Europe with a total of 450 stores.

First to open will be the much anticipated John Lewis store, which has cost £33 million to create. This is the 'anchor store' for the extension, and is providing 600 new jobs for residents in White City and the surrounding area.

As well as selling a wide range of fashion, beauty, home and technology brands, it will have a wine bar and two restaurants - one with its own terrace - plus 23 different services.

These will include an in-house optician, a spa and a discovery room on the third floor where customers can learn new skills such as crafts and cooking.

Other stores opening next week in Westfield 2 will include Flying Tiger Copenhagen, opening its second branch in the borough alongside the one in Hammersmith's Kings Mall and two new food outlets, Scandinavian Bakery Ole & Steen and frozen yoghurt specialist Pinkberry. 100 customers will be offered a free Pinkberry Swirl with toppings, and there will also be live music from the emerging solo artist Sammie Jay.

These store will be joined over the coming months by a long list of beauty and fashion stores, including Primark, Space NK, Urban Decay, Bravissimo, men’s fashion brands Frencheye and Emperor and Chinese fashion brand Urbano Revivo - launching its first store outside Asia.

The latest big name to sign up is Adidas, promising a 'stadium inspired' store.

The extension will also have a Currys PC World, Japanese Food Hall Ichiba, boutique bowing venue All Star Lanes and a new indoor minigolf gaming centre plus bar and restaurant called Puttshack. Puttshack will launch within the new development and both applications for jobs and bookings are now open at its website.

FirstLight Cycle meanwhile, will open in May providing the UK’s largest boutique cycling studio.

Westfield says that adding its extension has also allowed some stores currently based in the existing centre to move to bigger spaces in the new extension, including H&M, Boots, Lush, The White Company, Monsoon, Guess, UGG and Cath Kidston.

You can find out about jobs on offer at Westfield on its website and WorkZone Online. You can also visit WorkZone, based within Shepherd's Bush Library at Westfield for more about jobs and training opportunities.
