Ark Swift Primary Praised in First Ofsted Inspection

Australia Road School graded as good by inspectors

Ark Swift Primary Academy has been given a glowing report in its first Ofsted inspection since Ark took over the former Canberra Primary School in Australia Road, White City.

Ark Swift received its first Ofsted inspection in May 2016 and was graded as good.

The Ofsted inspector said:

Pupils respond readily and positively to the school’s high expectations of their behaviour. They are friendly, welcoming and greet visitors confidently

Recent assessment information and current work in pupils’ books show that rates of pupils’ progress have increased and are good in Years 1 to 6

Senior leaders and members of the local governing board have worked successfully together to secure good teaching, learning and assessment in Years 1 to 6 and raise pupils academic outcomes

"This Ofsted report is a great result for pupils and staff at Ark Swift, who I know have worked so hard to make positive change in their school," says Cllr Sue Macmillan, Hammersmith & Fulham Cabinet Member for Children and Education.

" In just a short time, Ark have turned a struggling school, judged ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted just a few years ago, into one which pupils and staff are proud to attend.

" This ‘good’ rating shows the success that can be achieved when pupils, staff, governors and H&F Council all work together, with children and their future at the forefront of what we do.

"Crucially, I know Ark Swift staff will not rest on their laurels, but continue to work with H&F, using this inspection as a fantastic base for even greater success in the coming years."
